Welcome
to the second installment of this four-part article series on the many ways the
“All-on-4” dental implant technique
can save Illinois residents a staggering sum of money on the cost of
getting new, fixed (non-removable) teeth.
Since
it’s debut in the early 1990’s, the “All-on-4” has truly revolutionized the
field of dental implantology. It has made the unprecedented possible and, in
the process, made advanced solutions accessible to a much greater audience.
Perhaps the biggest reason for this is the fact that this sophisticated dental
implant protocol costs tens of thousands of dollars less than older, more
traditional techniques.
In
our previous article installment, we explored the first reason why this is so:
the fact that the “All-on-4” only requires four dental implants to provide
patients with a complete set of lower or upper teeth, whereas traditional
techniques could require twice that number, if not more!
Let’s
continue looking at the many reasons the “All-on-4” is regarded as the modern
standard of care for edentulous (toothless) and near-edentulous Illinois
residents and how it makes fixed oral rehabilitation accessible to one and all.
All-On-4 Dental Implants
Cost: Save Money on the Number of Surgeries
The
next serious expense involved in getting new teeth with dental implants is the
surgery required to place them. With the “All-on-4,” only one placement
procedure is typically required, which means that Illinois residents are
actually looking at the possibility of getting new teeth in just one day!
With
traditional dental implant techniques, however, this wasn’t possible. With as
many as 8 to 10 implants required per jaw, the process of oral rehabilitation
would have to be divided into a series of smaller and more manageable
surgeries.
“We
simply cannot safely place such a large number of dental implants in one
sitting,” explains one expert in Dental Implants Chicago, Illinois. “The risk of
infection and failure would be too great and the patient would suffer from
terrible post-operative pain and discomfort.”
It’s
for this reason that surgeons would break full mouth reconstruction down into a
number of smaller procedures, thereby ensuring a greater chance of healing
success, while maintaining the comfort of the patient.
The
major problem with this approach is that the patient has to cough up the money
for three or even more surgeries, as opposed to one! And anyone who’s ever had
to cover the costs of surgery will know there’s way more than one bill
involved: the surgeon’s bill, the anesthetist’s bill, the cost of materials,
post-operative medications, etc.
Additionally,
patients would have to endure months of recovery in between each surgery and
would probably only have a full set of teeth again after 12 to 18 months. It’s
not surprising that most Illinois resident simply chose removable dentures over
and above the dental implant solutions of the time!
The
good news is that the “All-on-4” has totally changed all of this. With only one
surgery required to get beautiful new teeth again, you’re saved the terrible
expense of multiple procedures and more than a year’s worth of trouble.
