Welcome
to the second installment of this three-part article series on the “All-on-4” dental implants
technique, how it differs from traditional approaches to fixed oral
rehabilitation and how it has changed the lives of countless Chicago residents.
Previously,
in Part 1, the various courses of action available to the Chicago residents who
had lost most or all of their teeth (usually to gum disease) were explained to
us. They were either removable dentures or traditional Chicago Dental Implant techniques. The former was typically uncomfortable,
challenging and compromised one’s self-esteem and ability to eat and speak
properly. The latter could require up to 18 months in and out of surgery and
was expensive, painful and traumatic for patients to go through.
This
all changed with the innovation of “All-on-4” dental implants. Let’s take a
look how:
How the “All-on-4”
Revolutionized the Market
The “All-on-4” is a sophisticated dental
implant technique that was innovated by Portuguese implantologist, Dr. Paulo
Malo. It was designed with the intention of overcoming all the traditional
problems and challenges that faced older dental implant techniques, such as the
need for bone grafting, multiple placement procedures and lengthy recovery
periods.
After years of research, clinical trials
and hard work by Dr. Malo and one of the world’s largest dental implant
manufacturers, Nobel Biocare,
“All-on-4” dental implants were released to the market and Chicago Dentists swarmed to the MALO CLINIC in Lisbon to master the
technique.
Why were “All-on-4” dental implants
regarded as such a breakthrough in the field of fixed oral rehabilitation?
Because:
1. They typically avoid the need for bone grafting
surgery: Through the strategic orientation of only four dental
implants, enough support can be provided to a fixed (non-removable) and
custom-designed dental bridge, which resembles a complete set of teeth and
gums. This is possible even for patients who have lost a fair amount of bone
volume to jawbone atrophy, as was explained in Part 1 of the series.
2.
They
can be placed in a single dental procedure: That’s right! Instead of
multiple dental surgeries spread out over the course of a year and a half, the
“All-on-4” can be completed in just one sitting because only four dental
implants are being placed per jaw, rather than 8 or 10.
3.
The “All-on-4” can provide most patients – even complex cases –
with new
teeth in one day from one office.
4.
The costs associated with fixed oral rehabilitation are
tens of thousands of dollars less than those accrued by traditional
dental implants techniques, making the “All-on-4” vastly more accessible to
Chicago residents.
And so, you see, “All-on-4” dental implants vastly surpass the
capabilities of traditional dental implant techniques, making it possible for
those who desperately need new teeth to have their lives changed overnight.
But, this doesn’t answer exactly what patients can expect from their new
teeth... what are they like? Do they feel like natural teeth? Do they enable
you to eat your favorite foods? Will they ever require restoration and are they
expensive to maintain?
You’ll find out in Part 3!
